There’s something undeniably reassuring about a cast iron bath. Cast iron baths are built tough, built to last; but they’re built with style too. Some of the most beautiful baths in our suppliers’ portfolios are fashioned from cast iron.
What is perhaps most surprising is that the cast iron bath is available in as many permutations as most other types of bath. Think cast iron and you might immediately think big. Truth is, you can think big, small and in-between. With smaller cast iron baths at one end of the range, and double ended cast iron baths built for two at the other, there’s something for every bathroom.
But if you want big – and we mean really big; there’s nothing better than a cast iron bath in which to stretch out (and keep stretching) and let your troubles melt away in an ocean of hot water. As a bath, a cast iron model makes a great swimming pool! Seriously! We’re talking anything up to 300 litres here. There simply is no better bath for those of you who crave the ultimate bath time experience
Cast iron has long been employed in the production of roll top baths (although these are more commonly found in acrylic these days). Cast iron is, of course, immensely durable. Added to that, it is incredibly stain resistant and scratch proof. While precise methods of manufacture vary, many cast iron baths are finished in a porcelain enamel, which helps give them their tell-tale ultra shiny appearance.
And if you want your cast iron bath to really look the part, you can shop around for classic free standing roll top baths for a splash of Victorian sophistication, or opt for a striking battleship grey or fire engine red finish. And if you really want to ‘push the tub out’ there are cast iron baths in boat shaped designs, polished, lacquered and ready for a trip on the high seas. Just pack your rubber duck and scented soap and cast off on another bath time adventure!© Bathroom Furniture.org.uk 2006
