Roll Top Baths

They’re unashamedly traditional and ultra chic. They’re sometimes called freestanding baths and sometimes Victorian baths, but we know them as roll top baths. Irrespective of what they’re called, they’re regarded as the ‘bees knees’ in contemporary bath design.

There’s something ever so slightly decadent about the roll top design; perhaps because it revels in its form and function – it’s a bath that’s made for bath time, not for quick dips. Structurally, the roll top bath is as open to variation as any other kind of bath. Whilst there are many freestanding roll top baths, it’s not an essential requirement – and there are just as many conventional floor mounted models available.

What you will always find is great design. Whatever the price, whatever the specifications, roll top baths are united in looking superb. From the most elegantly appointed Victorian styled roll top bath on four gleaming chrome feet to the more minimal lines and understated appeal of the contemporary variation on the theme, you’ll hardly fail to fall in love with at least one of them. (And it’s not often you can say that about a bath!)

Of course they’re easy to accessorize too. Roll top baths can be further enhanced by the addition of faux Victorian taps and feet, wooden supports or traditional pipe and chain plug kits. 

Clearly some advancements have worked in the favour of the roll top bath. The majority of the models you’ll find from our suppliers are manufactured in strong, durable, double walled acrylic, complete with additional internal reinforcement. So they’re not just strong, but superbly insulated too. Acrylic is a lot more adaptable for designers too, meaning that there is no end of design innovation for you to enjoy.
